It was never really quiet in the Undercroft, but there were parts of it that quieted down depending on the time of day. The pool for instance didn't seem nearly as popular in the dead of night. Jamie was used to living by a vampire's schedule, and the luxury of a pool was impossible to ignore. Even if he had to swim in his altogether, there not being swimming trunks available. It was worth it. Almost anything would have been.

Jamie had been on the swim team at school, the rowing team, the almost anything team that allowed him to look like slightly less of a nerd. Cutting through the water felt like he was washing off years. He swam until he was exhausted, and then kept going until he had to stop or he might drown. Could he even do that?

Pulling himself to the edge, he leaned and breathed, his muscles screaming, loving the feeling. Seeing another person, and recognizing (thanks to Noah) that he was also a slave, though his collar looked kind of different (would he ever understand this?), he smiled and offered up the pool as he massaged his tired legs. "Sorry, not trying to claim the whole thing." After a belated memory, he added, "I'm Jamie, by the way. New, obviously."

Byron could track anybody, anywhere. It even said so on his business card. And he was currently on the hunt for one particular halfling, previously the worst employee at Summer Secrets, currently apparently the temporary property of the Irish councilman. Typical. So he was waiting, doing sleight of hand tricks to keep himself distracted and cracking his knuckles, because technically he wasn't allowed in anyone's suite without invitation. Honestly, who even made these rules? So untrusting.

Seeing his quarry, Byron hopped off the banister that he'd been balanced on and dropped directly next to Arnon. "Hey, Pixie Sticks." He gave the halfling's ear a flick and pulled the ace of spades out from behind it. "I leave for two seconds and this is where I find you?" Reaching behind Arnon to run a finger along the edge of his collar, Byron flicked the little padlock at the back. "Love the accessory. Got that whole mad dog thing going for you."

It was an annual trip he did to the castle to deal with work related things, mostly handling of accounts when vampires came and left. Usual stuff that he made a routine out of, he didn't like staying in the castle for too long. He may not have been a slave but he was still at the whims of the vampires he serviced. They're less likely to bother him at the bank than they would be in the middle of where they kept themselves. After his last meeting he had left the suite in a bored mood, none of these were very fun nor did they illicit anything worth feeding from.

The demon, now bored and hungry, moved through the hallways minding his own when he spotted someone. He cared little about the poor slaves that came through here, nor would he have stopped had it been one of them. He'd recognized his face, at this point he wondered if anyone of any importance would have recognized him by now. Grim made it his mission to know, and remember the faces that passed through the village. This one pinged his memory and it looked like he was up to no good, brilliant.

With a devious smirk, he turned on his heel and made his way over to him casually. "You look a little lost." He spoke once he'd gotten close to him, hands were firmly held within his pockets as he leaned a little forward towards him. "Not doing something you're not suppose to, eh? What a place to be breaking some rules."

Noah snorted. "Okay, sure, but we can't exactly do fuck all about that, can we? At least I can deal with shit between us on my own terms." The cambion didn't trust the bright smile. Arnon was clearly some kind of slippery fucker who's mood seemed to change pretty damn quickly, which was saying something because Noah wasn't exactly steady when it came to moods himself. "You really wanna know what's goin' on down here when you're free to walk around the whole damn castle? Doubt that." Noah shook his head, wishing he had another cigarette as he slumped back against the other side of the couch. It wasn't like he was going to ask the little prick for one though. Case in point, he kept firing off insults, and Noah glared at him again. "Not after one of 'em's clocked the other. Either it becomes a real fight or someone runs off. Where the fuck have you been that you don't know that? And all your shitty little comments aren't makin' me wanna stick around and give you the time of day."

Kaden's lips pulled into a frown and his magic faded away with his section completed like nothing ever happened. And nothing good ever happened when Raiden's name was mentioned. He knew firsthand how that massive toddler of a tribrid worked and the fact that he targeted Arnon in the castle made him sick for the briefest of seconds until Rhys reassured him that the halfling still remained unbroken. A small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth and he shook his head wondering if Arnon ever had a breaking point; for the kid's sake he hoped not. "That talkative mouth of his sure loves windin' his sorry ass in trouble, don't it?" he chuckled fondly. He really ought not to encourage that, even from afar like this. After all, running his mouth was how Arnon essentially wound up in Tiernan's possession.

While Rhys took one side of the street, Kaden crossed over to the other. He stood in the middle of the street since this side road was closed from the destruction causing blockage and his violet energy reappeared to drag debris and rubble out of the way and return another building to its former glory. "That's how the council operates," he said drily. "They're in charge and love flauntin' it. Logic, facts, and reason don't resonate well with their version of reality." It sounded like he spoke from experience and maybe it was. Living with Lucien Gaudet proved a perfect subject for that claim. He laughed, glancing back at Rhys again. "I reckon I ain't ever had a break since before I had kids," he admitted. "Now what about you? When's the last time you had one?"

Rhys was more than happy to listen as Kaden recounted the intricate details of his bond with the halfling. Outside of his trial against Tiernan, Rhys hadn’t known Arnon particularly well and the few times he’d been called upon to fix the attempted damages made to the claimed slave’s collar had been… insightful, if he was going to be polite about it. It was hardly surprising to see that someone as inherently impulsive as the boy was as drawn as he was to Kaden; the kresnik practically radiated serenity in his own special way – it was undoubtedly the perfect balm to quell such a rebellious fire. His attention flickered between Kaden and the debris of his own section intermittently, the pale golden glow of his restoration magic shimmering around him as he flicked a wrist to neatly reconstruct the foundations laid bare before him. The affection in Kaden’s voice widened Rhys’ smile almost immediately. It was rare to stumble across such genuine displays of emotion within the confines of the castle; to finally be around real sentimentality and adoration again was a breath of fresh air that Rhys hadn’t realised he’d needed. 

“Sounds like you came into his life at the right time. Kids like that usually just need a nudge in the right direction. I doubt there’s anyone better suited for that than you, even if it’s as exhausting as it sounds,” taking a small step back, Rhys cocked his head to one side as he narrowed his eyes in focus as the finishing touches were applied to restore the building back to its former glory, not a single element out of place. “And you got a crappy Father’s Day card too?” A low whistle left the witch as he glanced towards Kaden, his brow raising with a laugh shortly after. “That’s as good as an official adoption in my eyes.” Wandering a little further down to size up the next stage of rebuilding, Rhys turned to face Kaden as his concerns were voiced and did his best to school his expression to one of reassurance. “He seemed to be doing all right, all things considered. He’d had a nasty run-in with Raiden a week or so before when I saw him last, but that didn’t seem to dull his… sparkle. He was talkative. Really talkative. Didn’t seem to be suffering in any way, didn’t have any major injuries that I could pick up on. Even if he’s trapped in Halloran’s company, he could be a lot worse off. Seems like he’s figured out how to play the game.”

Turning his attention back to the remnants of the devastation, Rhys raised both hands to shift the majority of the rubble to one side, keeping a watchful eye over it as it was gently lifted into the air and placed as gently as possible to one side so that he could get a better look at exactly what he’d be working with. It also gave him a chance to reinforce his mental shielding a little more, already wary of his thought process before the words had left him. “I feel for him. Hopefully that’s one less thing for you to worry about amidst all of…” Rhys gestured loosely towards the mess before them both. “…all this. When’s the last time you got a break? A real one, I mean? Seems to me that you’re long overdue one.”

Favara. La Dott.ssa Claudia Caramanna, Procuratore della Repubblica per i minorenni di Palermo per il convegno dell'I.C. "Brancati"

Organizzato dall’Istituto Comprensivo di Favara “V. Brancati” della Dirigente Scolastica Carmelina Broccia, si è svolto mercoledì 24 maggio, con inizio alle ore 11.00, nella sala del collare del Castello Chiaramontano della città dell’Agnello Pasquale, il Convegno “Cittadinanza attiva a scuola, tra conoscenza e partecipazione: diritti e doveri, regole e libertà”. L’evento ha avuto inizio con l’esibizione degli alunni del coro scolastico diretto dal prof. Antonio Cusumano che hanno cantato l’inno nazionale. Poi gli alunni della classe 4 G della scuola Primaria guidati dall’ins. Melissa Pullara hanno messo in scena una recita sul ruolo formativo, tra regole e diritti, della nostra Costituzione italiana dal titolo “Il giardino dei diritti”. La prima parte del convegno è stata dedicata alla visione del cortometraggio “Cambiare” realizzato dagli alunni della classe II C della scuola secondaria, con la partecipazione dei docenti, del personale della scuola e dei genitori. La sceneggiatura è stata affidata alla prof.ssa Ombretta Canu e la regia al prof. Giuseppe Cirlincione. Si è voluto fornire ai ragazzi, attraverso la simulazione di casi reali suggeriti dagli stessi, stimoli e strumenti per approfondire e riflettere su cittadinanza e partecipazione attiva. Dopo i saluti istituzionali della Dirigente Scolastica, del Sindaco Antonio Palumbo, della Presidente del Consiglio comunale, Miriam Mignemi, sono intervenuti per un saluto il Viceprefetto vicario, dott. Massimo Signorelli, il Questore di Agrigento dott. Emanuele Ricifari, il Comandante del centro anticrimine natura carabinieri Tenente Colonello Vincenzo Castronovo, Don Calogero Lo Bello e il Presidente del Misos prof. Ernesto Ciracì, Prima volta a Favara, in veste di relatrice, per la Dott.ssa Claudia Caramanna, Procuratore della Repubblica per i minorenni di Palermo, che è riuscita a coinvolgere gli alunni presenti con preziosi spunti di riflessione sul ruolo della Procura per i minorenni nel contrasto dell’illegalità e le devianze sociali con lo scopo sia di proteggere i più deboli che di attuare percorsi di misure rieducative. Emozionante è stato il momento nel quale la stessa Caramanna ha raccontato un suo ricordo del magistrato Francesca Morvillo, che aveva lavorato per ben 17 anni, dal 1971 al 1988, come Procuratore presso il Tribunale per i minorenni di Palermo. La dirigente scolastica Carmelina Broccia, a conclusione dei lavori, ha espresso in primis un profondo ringraziamento alla Dott.ssa Claudia Caramanna per la sua presenza e si è complimentata con la stessa per la splendida lezione interattiva, pienamente coinvolgente per gli alunni che hanno avuto l’opportunità di porre domande ed esprimere le loro riflessioni.  La dirigente nel suo intervento ha sottolineato l’importanza che la scuola agisca in stretta sinergia con la famiglia e con le Istituzioni a tutti i livelli, per contribuire, pur nella specificità dei propri ruoli, alla formazione di giovani cittadini attivi, consapevoli, capaci di osservare la realtà con senso critico, pronti a partecipare in maniera proattiva e responsabile alla vita della comunità. Ha coordinato i lavori la dott.ssa Etta Milioto, Cavaliere della Repubblica, da anni impegnata nel portare avanti assieme ai docenti dell’Istituto il progetto “Cittadinanza e Costituzione”. Ad arricchire la mattinata, gli interventi dell’alunna Emily Fallea che ha eseguito con il violino il brano “Le Filatrici” di Alberto Curci, guidata dalla prof.ssa Elisa Baglieri e accompagnata al pianoforte dal prof. Festa della mamma al tennis !

Domenica 14 Maggio hanno provato ad avere inizio i campionati nazionali di serie B che vedono le nostre squadre ai nastri di partenza con grandi aspettative.

Purtroppo l’unica variabile non controllabile, il meteo, è arrivato a sparigliare le carte, non permettendo ai ragazzi della B2 di scendere in campo presso lo SC Selva Alta di Vigevano, così come rinviando l’incontro casalingo della Serie C Maschile.

Le uniche quindi a schierarsi sono state le ragazze capitanate da Mauro Arnone, impegnate all’esordio nel Girone 3 contro le temibili avversarie dello SC Sassuolo, onestamente sfortunate perché colpite da defezioni dell’ultimo minuto che non hanno permesso al Circolo emiliano di presentarsi a ranghi completi.

In ogni caso, le partite da vincere ci sono state e … sono state tutte vinte dalle nostre amazzoni !

Schierata come singolarista Asya Colombo, opposta alla giovane e promettente 2.7 Cremonini Azzurra, in una partita dove la nostra portacolori ha dovuto lottare non tanto contro l’avversaria ma soprattutto contro gli spettri dei difficili momenti appena passati. Asya è infatti reduce da un grave infortunio alla spalla che l’ha tenuta lontana dai campi per mesi, durante i quali ha dovuto convivere con enormi sacrifici e sofferenze durante le sedute di fisioterapia grazie alle quali è uscita dal tunnel. Comprensibile e doverosa la commozione a fine match, dopo il 64 63 finale che racconta di una prestazione solida e sempre di testa. Via i fantasmi dell’infortunio Asya, e da adesso in poi tutta la grinta necessaria per tornare ai tuoi livelli !

Come numero 1 il CTP ha quindi schierato Cavelli Carola (2.4) che in una parola ha disputato e vinto una partita … alla Carola. Chissà se anche nella vita reale a Carola piacciono le montagne russe, lo chiederemo alla prima occasione … certo è che sedersi in tribuna mentre gioca lei, fa vivere al pubblico un’esperienza simile !

La fredda cronaca parla infatti di un 5 a 2 sopra nel primo set, poi perso 7 giochi a 5, di un secondo parziale che sembrava scappare via sul 4 a 1 per la 2.5 Gubertini Alice … in un match che sembrava perso ! Da qui le proverbiali accelerazioni della Cavelli portavano a casa il parziale per 64, per poi vedere la luce spegnersi di nuovo sino al 4 a 0 sotto, palla del 5 a 0 ! In realtà, eravamo a questo punto all’apice della roller coaster e da lì iniziava la discesa, se pensate che il parziale è stato 6 giochi a 0 per il CTP. Se non è una partita da montagne russe con il punteggio 57 64 64 … Grande Carola !!!

Il terzo punto del singolo era quindi deciso a tavolino vista l’assenza dell’avversaria, con Sonia Cassani nemmeno scesa in campo, ma prontissima a schierarsi nel doppio ormai solidissimo in coppia sempre con la Cavelli, a spazzare via le malcapitate emiliane 60 63.

Un 4 a 0 bello, deciso, emozionante e che non poteva far iniziare meglio il sogno targato Serie B1 !

Note di merito a chi non è sceso in campo ma che in presenza (le giovani e ormai integrate nella squadra Mirella Salvagnin e Giorgia Orsini insieme con la più esperta Aurora Urso pronta ad esordire presto) e chi da lontano, lontanissimo (Vale Urelli & famiglia dagli USA) hanno trascinato il team con la fondamentale componente del tifo e del sostegno.

Ci piace come sapete sottolineare questo aspetto, in uno sport per definizione individuale come il tennis, in un gruppo dove lo spirito di vera squadra costruito in questi anni da Mauro, Mattia e da tutti i nostri professionisti, garantisce un attaccamento ed una spinta fondamentali in un girone così impegnativo.

Ora ci si mette in viaggio, per due consecutive trasferte in quel di Sinalunga (Siena) e CT Giotto (Arezzo) per cercare di confermare lo stato di forma della nostra squadra … FORZA RAGAZZE !!!

leaning across to top up his own glass, arnon soon refocused his attention on rowan. his experience with those enslaved by the castle was minimal. he tried his best to avoid mingling with anyone directly involved with the castle in his day-to-day life. it was only really during working hours and occasional trips to the library that arnon found himself having to at least pretend to be polite around them all. “if you don’t mind me asking… how long have you been here for? is it as awful as it seems?”
